Getting Paid

Compensation & Placement Overview

At The Wonder Club, we believe compensation should reflect the level of professionalism, experience, and care you bring to each household. Our role is to support you in this process with confidence and guidance at every step.

Salaries are discussed collaboratively between the caregiver, the family, and our agency. We facilitate the conversation to ensure alignment and transparency throughout the process.

Our team presents each opportunity with clear details regarding responsibilities, schedule, and compensation so you can make informed decisions about whether the role is the right fit for you. From there, you may choose to accept the offer as presented or discuss adjustments through our agency.

Household Employment Overview

We encourage caregivers to approach compensation conversations with confidence and professionalism. Your experience, training, reliability, and the quality of care you provide are all important factors in determining your value within a role.

When considering opportunities, we recommend focusing on:

  • Your professional experience and background in childcare

  • Specialized skills or certifications

  • The scope and expectations of the role

  • Long-term fit with the family and household environment

Our goal is to ensure you are placed in positions where your work is respected, supported, and appropriately compensated.

Payroll & Tax Responsibility

In most placements, families will utilize a third-party payroll service to manage wages, withholdings, and tax reporting, ensuring a structured and streamlined employment arrangement.

In situations where a payroll service is not utilized, caregivers may be considered self-employed for tax purposes. In these cases, you would be responsible for managing your own income reporting, estimated tax payments, and any required filings in accordance with applicable tax laws.

We always encourage clarity around compensation structure prior to accepting a position so you feel fully informed and supported in your decision.

Benefits & Additional Perks

In addition to base compensation, some families may offer benefits or additional perks. These can vary depending on the household and may include:

  • Paid vacation

  • Paid holidays

  • Paid time off

  • Health benefits

  • Travel opportunities related to the position

  • Use of employer-provided household or personal amenities

Benefits are determined by the family and may be offered at the time of hire or after a period of employment.

Our Support to You

We are here to advocate for you throughout the placement process and beyond. If you ever have questions about an offer, compensation structure, or how to navigate a conversation with a family, our team is available to guide you.

Our goal is to help you secure roles that are not only a strong personal fit, but also professionally sustainable and rewarding.

Back-Up Care & Sitter Bookings

Occasional sitter positions differ from long-term nanny placements in structure, scheduling, and compensation expectations. Many sitter jobs are more flexible and may be handled differently than consistent household employment roles.

Even in casual arrangements, we encourage families and sitters to:

  • Clearly communicate expectations in advance.

  • Respect agreed-upon schedules and responsibilities.

  • Maintain professionalism and reliability.

  • Prioritize safety, communication, and mutual respect.

Compensation for back-up care and sitter bookings is coordinated through the agency. Families discuss the proposed rate and booking details with our team, and the position is then shared with eligible sitters. Sitters may choose to accept the booking as presented or discuss adjustments to the rate or details before confirming the job.

For recurring or long-term sitter arrangements, families may wish to explore legal household employment practices depending on the nature of the position.
